Minerva 1.0 Release Notes
    1.0 Final
  • Fixed bug with nicks not being removed from auto-complete list
  • Fixed bug where auto-complete would not match in some situations if the first letter did not match case
  • Fixed bug where selected text in the input field would be deleted if a direction key was pressed
  • Added a new URL tracker window. Any time a url is stated in a channel it will be copied to this window. Double click on it to open in your web browser. I know I've been saying I wouldn't add any new features, but this was pretty quick to put in, and I needed it for my own usage.
    1.0b15
  • Font selection sheet now has a loading progress bar.
  • Rebuilt the auto-complete system from scratch, should be some minor improvements
  • Fixed a problem with the nick change sheet not displaying correctly
  • Channels now obey the rejoin after kick settings
  • No longer displays empty whois data for users which do not exist
  • Fixed a problem with whois displaying incorrect channel listings
  • Logs are now properly time-stamped, uses the format defined in channel options
  • Added a checkbox to Logging preferences to turn on and off time-stamping
  • Input lines are significantly faster then previous builds
    1.0b14
  • Fixed a crash in DCC chats
  • DCC Chats no longer auto-create two log files.
  • DCC Chat auto logging now puts the file in the right place with the right name.
  • Changed Alias files folder location to the Minerva IRC Application Support folder (~/Application Support/Minerva IRC/Aliases)
    1.0b13
  • Fixed a bug on the DCC settings pane that made part of the save location come out as gibberish
  • Slight changes to the DCC save location dialog.
  • Removed the User Database menu item, since it didn't do anything anyway
  • Moved channel settings out of the edit menu and into the main menu bar
  • Fixed a problem with message highlighting getting a false list if no list had been set
  • Disabled the user polls, since it wasn't getting any results anyway. Will re-implement at a later time.
    1.0b12
  • Fixed a glitch in the DCC window with the start button not enabling
  • Font editing dialog works again, and has received a facelift
  • Making changes to the font settings now takes effect in all windows immediately
  • Completely rewrote the channel logging system from the ground up. Auto-logging works again, and logs can now be made in both plain text and HTML format. The new system does not log all text that goes to the window, only text specifically targeted at that window. Channels will only record channel specific messages, and not any private messages or generic server messages that get received. The same applies to query windows and dcc chats. This new system does not log existing text in the window, so if a log is started mid chat the log will not have the chat history, only text received after that point. Automatic logs are saved to ~/Library/Application Support/Minerva/Chat Logs/
  • Created a new pane in the preferences for logging options.
  • Toolbar window and DCC window now correctly save their locations and visibility
  • Fixed auto-update checking
    1.0b11
  • Dramatic speed increase in the input line. Finally found the source of this lag
  • Fixed a glitch in the userlist where entries would draw overtop of the user count.
  • Corrected a bug in the XDCC filters with correctly processing file list entries
  • Now include the IDENT enabler from AthenaIRC
    1.0b10
  • Fixed a crash involving setting the DCC external IP address
  • The channel userlist size is now independently controlled, and is remembered for each channel.
  • Windows menu works again, previously it was inserting false items which weren't enabled, and wasn't listing all the windows.
  • Removed "Make Full-screen" from the windows menu, as it doesn't do anything.
  • Closing a channel window no longer makes the server window switch to the console.
  • Fixed a glitch in the message processors that was returning the hostmask in place of &host, which should just return the hostname.
  • Added &mask to the message processors to print out a user's complete hostmask.
  • Fixed a bug with copying text from the input line
  • Minerva now has a feature to connect to the home server and look for any new user surveys. This is in an attempt to gain more feedback from the users as to upcoming changes in the program. The surveys consist of short single question polls run through the ChiperSoft online webboard. Voting in the survey does not require a registration with the board. If you do not wish to participate you can turn the notifications off in the Auto-Update preferences.
    1.0b9
  • Fixed text encoding problem with accented characters such as ‰ and ‡ (no really, it's fixed this time)
  • Query window update status is now properly marked on the taskbar
  • History scroll back is now fixed and will correctly remember more then one item.
  • Some minor changes have been made to the channel user counter. There may be a slight speed boost due to the change.
  • Mouse Wheel scrolling adjusted to better support the distance setting in System Properties
  • Now includes the soundset file, so sound works once more.
  • Fixed a bug with alias data not getting saved
    1.0b8
  • Fixed a problem with the input line refusing redraw when typing.
  • Fixed a bug where the Receiving Channel List sheet would not close
  • Remodeled the above sheet window to be more informative
  • Channel Listings now stop loading and just show their contents if list data is not received after 15 seconds. This is to fix a bug on DALnet where the list ending is not sent.
  • The Channel List window now supports color codes in topic lines.
  • The topic bar in channel windows now supports color codes
  • Fixed a couple bugs in the color code processors
  • If a mIRC color code has the foreground set to white on a dark background, Minerva now uses the background color as the foreground (because we can't draw the background). This is to make the text readable. If for some reason you actually don't want this, email me.
  • KNOWN ISSUE: Colors shown in the topic bar are sometimes different from the colors shown in the channel output.
    1.0b7
  • Minor speed improvements all over, still tinkering
  • Fixed a bug with local nick changes not showing up
  • Fixed a memory leak with nick changes
  • Fixed a crash with receiving a join invitation
  • URLs can now be directly clicked on to open in a browser. Previously it required that the command key be held down, as this was the norm for Macintosh applications. I have no plans to change the color of urls at this time.
  • IRC data is now sent to the server in a half second timed buffer. This is to help reduce server flooding when sending large amounts of data (ie, pasting text into a channel). This should not make any noticeable effect from the user side. The default buffer period is 500 milliseconds, and is changeable in the preferences (general tab). Set it to zero to turn this off.
    1.0b6
  • Fixed a crash involved with rejoining a previously open channel after disconnect or kick.
  • Fixed a crash involved when closing a recent query window
  • Channels now properly remember userlist sort method
  • Fixed a bug in copying text from the channel output which resulted in chinese characters when pasted.
  • Fixed (hopefully) a problem with accented characters not being processed correctly. let me know if this still happens
    1.0b5
Starting with this release I am now compiling with REALbasic 5. There will be some speedups, but probably some new bugs. Please report them when you find them.

  • Fixed color display
  • Improved color performance, especially with mIRC colors
  • Taskbar can be opened again from the window menu if closed

  • Default channel settings are now remembered.
  • XDCC settings are now remembered

    1.0b3
  • Tweaked how message formatting data is stored, should be more reliable now. Any settings changed will be reset to defaults.
  • Tweaked the connection methods so that if no realname is specified it fills in the field with a period. This should help with connecting to some servers.
  • Adjusted nag dialog to be less annoying. Now only displays every hour, and can be dismissed with the enter or esc keys.
    1.0b2
  • Fixed message highlighting
    1.0b1
  • Initial Release
